Our final natural dye workshop of the summer will focus on two dyes that have been used for centuries to produce blue and red pigments. We will be working with indigo and madder plants from our own garden as well as processed pigments to try out a variety of dye methods. This workshop will cover some of the basics of preparing fibers and making dye baths that we've discussed in previous workshops, along with getting into the specific chemistry of indigo and madder. Textiles will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own items for dyeing.
This is a free program; RSVPs are appreciated!
