December 18, 2026
The New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (Olympic Authority) is proud to announce that the Olympic Center’s 1980 Herb Brooks Arena will host the inaugural Cosmic Hockey game on Friday, December 18, marking the public debut of hockey's first entertainment-focused experience.
Ticket Lottery Opens September 1
Due to anticipated demand, fans interested in attending the first-ever Cosmic Hockey game must enter a ticket lottery that opens September 1 at www.cosmichockey.com. There is no cost to enter the lottery. The first lottery winners will be contacted by October 1 and then have the opportunity to purchase tickets. Organizers expect approximately 7,000 tickets to be available.
Block Party to Kick Off Festivities
The event will kick off with a two-hour Block Party that is free and open to the public at the James C. Sheffield Speed Skating Oval, featuring music, interactive activations and opportunities for fans to meet the players. Fans will also be welcome to skate on the Oval during the celebration.
Training Camp Offers Fans a Preview
The road to the inaugural game begins even earlier in Lake Placid. Cosmic Hockey’s training camp October 26 to November 6 at the Olympic Center is open to the pubic, giving fans an opportunity to watch players prepare for the league’s debut on the same ice.
Cosmic Hockey tryouts took place in August in Buffalo and Boston and attracted more than 300 players looking for spots in the exciting new league. Final rosters will be comprised of players with past NCAA and professional hockey experience.
"When it comes to hockey, there is no more significant arena in North America than Herb Brooks Arena. We could not think of a better place to unveil Cosmic Hockey," said Chris Martin, Cosmic Hockey Founder. "When you walk into the arena, you get goosebumps. We hope to create a little magic in Lake Placid in December."
Cosmic Sports Expands to Bring Black Light Entertainment to the Ice
Cosmic Hockey builds on the success of Cosmic Baseball, which attracted more than 750,000 fans during its inaugural 30-city Cosmic Takeover Tour in 2026. Cosmic Sports is bringing the same innovative black-light sports entertainment experience to the ice, combining athletic competition with immersive lighting, music, entertainment and fan interaction.
