Following dinner, learn more about the Research Team and the raising of the last cannon piece on July 20, 2026 with presenter, Ed Scollon. This important artifact is the last piece of an exploded cannon which was on the gunboat New York,
one of Benedict Arnold's fleet. Learn about the men who died and were injured in the explosion on October 11, 1776. Guests are warmly encouraged to participate in the commemorative events taking place throughout the Battle of Valcour Island 250th Commemoration Weekend. Visit with reenactors, enjoy tours of the Clinton County Historical Association Museum, experience performances by the U.S. Navy Band Ensemble, attend the dedication of the Legacy Project at the Peru Boat Launch, and join us for our signature event—the Battle of Valcour Island Commemoration and Reenactment in Cumberland Bay on Lake Champlain.
