Adirondack RegionalTheatre (ART) is proud to present the world premiere of MAMA: Survival Guide Required,a new original play by award-winning, local playwright Tracy Vicory-Rosenquest.This heartfelt and deeply human production celebrates motherhood in all its messy, exhausting, joyful, and transformative forms.
For playwright, Tracy Vicory-Rosenquest, this production means a lot to her."My mom has been my survival guide through motherhood. I needed adaily dose of her humor to carry me through the toddler years. And I still need it. This play is for mothers and those who mother - to give space to our humanity and to celebrate the tribe of people who get us through parenting." says Tracy. She can't wait for the community to see what motherhood means to her.
At its core, MAMA: Survival Guide Required is a love letter to mothers everywhere. Through laughter, tears, and moments of raw honesty, the play explores the impossibly hard and heartbreakingly beautiful realities of caregiving and connection. Audiences are invited to laugh, cry, and squirm their way through the shared experiences that bind us together—reminding us that while there may be no perfect guide to being a mom,none of us are ever truly doing it alone.
"The writing of this play hits on multiple levels. It portrays an unfiltered authenticity of this shared experience, which is especially powerful due to the feeling of isolation that parenthood can manifest, allowing the audience to commiserate together in laughter at these absurd but familiar situations. Each rehearsal has been a cathartic experience for sure!" says director, Mark Preston. This is his debut in directing and he couldn't be more happy with his team.
