Emotions, Letters, and War: Through the Eyes of Civil War Soldiers Franklin Prairie and Joseph South

When the Civil War erupted in 1861, over 5000 men from Clinton County enlisted to serve. SUNY history graduate Aubrie Bourgeois presents the stories of two local men, Franklin Prairie and Joseph South who enlisted in the Macomb or Plattsburg Regiment. Her research shows how emotions and impacts of the war were conveyed in their letters home.
