A workshop for local beekeepers on "How to Make Beehive Splits" will be hosted by the Local Living Venture's non-profit beekeeping group and Martin's Farm stand on Saturday, June 12 at 3:00 p.m. near Potsdam, NY.
Peter Martin will share his tips and skills for increasing the capacity of anapiary when current hives are becoming very full. This technique can be used to to remediate Winter losses, or as a form of swarm or mite control.
The outdoor, hands-on event will be held at Martin's Farm stand, located at 11 Needham Rd., on the corner of State Rt. 11B, four miles east of Potsdam. It is expected to last as long as 90 minutes.

The workshop is on a free-will "drop in the bucket" basis of a $10 to$20 suggested donation, and no participant is solicited or turned away for lack of funds. The organizer is a local educational non-profit, which states that all donations directly benefit programming.
Participants are asked to bring at least a beekeeping veil for safety.Organizers note that "social distancing and masking are encouraged for this outdoor workshop, but are a personal responsibility and preference at this time."
