3:30pm - 4:30pm

Location:
SUNY Plattsburgh

This Center for Earth and Environmental Science (CEES) Seminar is from 3:30 to 4:30p.m. in Hudson Hall room 106. Join us as Ben DeJong, state geologist of the Vermont Department of Environmental Conversation, provides a high-level overview of the Great Vermont Flood of 10-11 July 2023 from the perspective of the Vermont Geological Survey. The flood wreaked havoc as torrential rainfall triggered widespread flooding from rivers overflowing their banks, resulting in severe erosion and destruction. Additionally, the heavy rainfall triggered numerous landslides, further intensifying the devastation and leading to road closures and infrastructure damage across the region. All CEES seminars are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Dr. Mark Lesser at518-564-4139 or mless004@plattsburgh.edu.
