Plattsburgh welcomes the FLW American Fishing Series to Lake Champlain
Registration begins today at the Crete Civic Center, Plattsburgh
Plattsburgh – 07/14/2010 –The FLW American Fishing Series kicks off on Lake Champlain, Thursday, July 15. The tournament runs July 15 - July 17, where 300 anglers will set their sights on winning top prize, $25,000 plus a Ranger boat and co-anglers can win up to $15,000.
Fishing is always good on Lake Champlain,” said Chevy pro Dave Lefebre of Union City, Pa., who finished in sixth place at the 2009 FLW Tour event on Lake Champlain. “You can’t miss; everything will work.
Lefebre adds, “There will be a mixture of small and largemouth bass caught. You’ll want to use big topwater baits for the smallmouth, and the largemouth bite will come flipping grass with jigs, worms and frogs. Average weights are going to be 14 to 16 pounds per day, but it is going to take 18 to 20 pounds per day to win. Weights are probably going to be separated by ounces, which add excitement and frustration for the anglers.”
Anglers will launch from Plattsburgh Boat Basin in Plattsburgh, NY, at 6am each morning. Weigh-ins will be held at the boat basin as well, beginning at 2 p.m each day. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and the public is encouraged to come and witness the fun and excitement of this nationally televised event.
Kristy Kennedy, Group Marketing Specialist, for the Adirondack Coast Visitors and Convention Bureau states, “We look forward to seeing lots of local support at the weigh-ins each afternoon at Dock Street Landing, they are free and fun for the whole family, TV crews, music and giveaways add to the excitement. This tournament is promising to be an exciting three days of fishing on Lake Champlain.”
All media outlets are encouraged to attend the registration today, Wednesday, July 14 from 4-6pm at the Crete Center in Plattsburgh, NY. All the anglers, both pro and co-anglers will be in attendance. This is a great time to meet and interview the anglers and tour organizers before they hit the lake. Please contact Kristy at the Visitors Bureau if you have any questions.
